Chicago Cubs fans across the country are celebrating after the team’s ace pitcher Jake Arrieta threw a no-hitter in a 16-0 road win against the Cincinnati Reds on April 21st. The no-hitter was the second of Arrieta’s career, and it puts him next to Nolan Ryan, Ken Holtzman, and Larry Corcoran as the only Cubs pitchers in history with multiple career no-nos.
In addition to placing Arrieta in an elite group of former Cubs pitchers, the blowout no-hitter gives the Cubs the second biggest no-hitter victory in Major League Baseball history. It also further establishes the Cubs as the team to beat in a 2016 season that many believe will end with them bringing the first World Series Championship win to Chicago in 108 years.
